Namco and Sprint team up for game demo’s

Namco and Sprint have teamed up to provide consumers with demo’s of mobile games during Sprint’s Twelve Days of Shopping. Namco has provides a special mini site where the demo’s are made available and the first 25 consumers to prop in will get $ 50 worth of Namco fun.

Gameloft confirms position 2 in the market

During this year, we witnessed a huge struggle between Gameloft and Glu for the second possition after a claim from M:Metrics that Glu was second. With Glu’s IPO Sec-1 filing for Nasdaq, Gameloft contacted us to let us know they are happy to confirm they have twice the revenue and thus twice the revenue share of Glu. The Sec-1 filing was the Christmas present Gameloft could only wish for.

As Tip Hawkins, CEO of Digital Chocolate always openly pursued original IP as a main driver for the company instead of licensing, this seemed to be a weird move. Glu finally opened the books

We got a sweet surprise this morning as the news reached us about Glu‘s IPO filing on NASDAQ. Glu hopes to raise $ 92 million in common stock. As we all know, IPO filing means opening up the books and so all mobile news resources are going trough the numbers and interesting facts pop up everywhere. So is Glu really the claimed number 2? Probably not, but the plans with the money are clear. Pay debts, expand and acquire.

Glu’s European expansion

After opening new offices in Hong Kong and Sao Paulo, Glu is on track to open some more in order to expand their market coverage. Glu announced it has opened offices is France and Germany to get a better fix on those markets. Also the London office has been relocated to fit their expansion.

Konami’s mobile demo portal

US Consumers can now download a free portal application from Konami mobile. The application allows consumers to browse the portfolio and try the mobile games. Konami hopes to lower the barrier of buying their mobile games.

Vodafone pulls out of Swisscom

Swisscom is now back on it’s own again as Vodafone cashed in their 25% stake for $ 2,3 billion. Vodafone is pulling itself out of countries where they have a minority share in the operators. Swisscom will remain selling Vodafone services though. There are plenty more situations like this which we expect to report on soon.

London Racer: Police Madness

Living Mobile will release a new episode in their Autobahn Racer / London Racer series early next year. The new version received the full title Autobahn Racer: Police Madness / London Racer: Police Madness and allows you to drive the police cars and fly choppers. More in the press release below.
