May 2nd, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Brand Licensing | No Comments »

GameloftThe Mummy is returning to the cinema’s, and so Gameloft has inked a new licensing deal with Universal Pictures in order to release The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Mummy is without doubt one of the best adventure movie series from Universal. It’s not the first time that The Mummy enters the world of mobile gaming. Several years ago, IndiaGames had released a puzzle like game based on the license.

The blockbuster global Mummy franchise takes a spellbinding turn as the action shifts to Asia for the next chapter in the adventure series, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. In the film, Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O’Connell to combat the resurrected Han Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O’Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.

“Gameloft is pleased to again partner with Universal to add an interactive mobile component to its wildly popular movie franchise,” said Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President of Publishing, Gameloft. “An action-packed property such as The Mummy allows us to go down an extremely wide creative path to deliver an exciting and engaging mobile game for fans.”

Working closely with Universal, the mobile game will capture and chronicle the intense action adventure of the film. The game takes place across varied landscapes of mysterious and magical China, including caves, deserts, mountains and tombs. Peppered with challenging puzzle and mini-games in between 12 levels, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor delivers an action-packed game with eye-popping graphics.

“We have a great history of collaboration with Gameloft, and they were a natural choice for us on this awesome title,” said Jeremy Laws, Senior Vice President of Universal Mobile Entertainment. “The Mummy franchise has millions of fans worldwide, and the mobile game gives us another vehicle through which to deliver a dynamic and complementary experience.”
