Google Working on In-Game Adsense

August 4th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Ad Funded Gaming | 2 Comments »

Google
The past months, Google has been working hard on an adsense API that
can be used for in-game advertising. Google has already gained some
share on the wap decks, so is mobile gaming next?

Well, probably not at first. The service is currently only streaming video’s into games, which makes it a bit too bulky for mobile. However since the company is working out its own mobile OS (Android) and also has a lot of wap coverage, it can only be expected that mobile games will follow. For now, Google only talks about mobile entertainment in general when it comes to support.

    1. Well a lot of things are possible now. Mobile gaming is booming! Just look at the awesome new mobile technologies like Motorokr phone. That phone can change from Mp3 to cell phone with the touch of a button. It has even won 4 awards including CNET’s “Best of CES” award. It looks like mobile games and phones are booming!

This would prove a fantastic addition to what adsense currently provides. I have personally heavily invested in in-game advertising, especially mobile gaming, and for something like this to come along would be revolutionary and welcomed.
