It seems a shift in Smartphone purchases is to happen in the next few years in The Netherlands. Several telco’s have already said to be interested in dropping subsidies for smartphone purchases by consumers.

MWC: ZTE Goes Big on Quad-Core in Europe

ZTE is set to make a splash on the European market with their high-end Android devices. Amongst them is the new ZTE Era. A smartphone with a quad-core (1.3Ghz) CPU, 1GB RAM and a 960×540 screen.

iPhone Missing for US Top 5 Smartphones

Though the iPhone from Apple remains very popular, Comscore has calculated that the device didn’t get Apple into a top 5 position for the US smartphone market in Q1 2010.

Europe
The smartphone market seems to be booming with the success of devices like the HTC Touch Diamond, Nokia N96 and of course the Apple iPhone (though I am still not convinced it is a real smartphone). Yet, the EU is thinking about raising import taxes on them.
