BBMF Receives $ 20 Million Funding

One of Japans largest mobile content firms called BBMF has received fresh funding to upgrade and prepare their content for 3G and 4G networks. BBMF is known for its mobile comics, games and other content and will receive the funding from CDC Mobile reports Wireless Week. Together with funding BBMF, CDC will gain first rights to sell BBMF content in China.

Juan Montes Joins Distinctive Developments

UK developer Distinctive is expanding its team of directors by getting Juan Montes on board as a non-executive director. Juan’s main job will be to help the company to set its strategy and expand on a global scale. In his past, Juan Montes was VP of software development at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, CTO and VP of content at Motorola and last but not least, European MD at Jamdat.

Lucy Hood new CEO at Jamba!

The deal between Verisign and News Corp is finished meaning Jamba! is now finally part of News Corp’s assets. Lucy Hood, who used to head up Fox Mobile, has been appointed as the new CEO for Jamba! immediately. While looking trough the Press Officers database of 3GSM, we already noticed many Fox employees have put Jamba! as the company they work for.
THQ: Bad console ports don’t harm their originals

It seems we have a big difference of opinion once again in the industry as THQ’s James Scalpello disagrees with Player X’s Tony Pearce on the damage bad mobile games can do to the original console versions. Elspa has announced the top 50 best selling games of 2006. This year, EA clearly has taken a leap into the charts with a dozen of games on prominent positions. The most prominent license is clearly Who Wants to be a Millionaire from Glu which is in there with three separate editions. In total, 15 developers are represented in the top 50.

Mobile Amusements 2007 H1 Line-up

Mobile Amusements notified us of their H1 line-up for 2007. At this moment they refreshed Sudoku Valentines Edition with new builds. Later on they will release Heli Rescue which was nominated for an IMGA award last year. Also coming soon are Waterski Challenge and Tommy Gun. The games will be distributed trough aggregator partners and gamejump.com.
Gameloft Adds Stars to Real Football 2007

Gameloft announced to release its newest version of Real Football, the 2007 edition, with the help of three all new football stars. To polish the game, Gameloft managed to ink down Patrick Vieira, captain of the French national team, Steven Gerrard, captain of Liverpool and Carles Puyol, captain of FC Barcelona. Real Football will become available the 9th of February to operators and portals worldwide.
