Cell Phone Interactive Games Become More Popular

Who says "Solitaire" must be a lonely endeavor? Games tailored for cell phones are increasingly adding community-oriented elements, such as tournaments for top scores, head-to-head combat or chatting with other players.
After all, the ubiquitous gadget is meant to connect people. "The mobile phone is really turning into a social computer," said Trip Hawkins, founder of Digital Chocolate Inc.

AEGF Mobile Games, a partnership between Abandon Entertainment and GF Capital Management & Advisors, and NBC Sports, today announced a partnership on an exclusive worldwide mobile gaming license to create NBC Sports branded games. Under the deal, AEGF will use NBC Sports content to create unique and challenging wireless video games available on mobile phones, many of which will be directly interactive with NBC Sports broadcasts. Sprint PCS and Cingular Wireless L.L.C. subscribers now can buy titles from Jamdat Mobile Inc. at more than 5,000 RadioShack Corp. outlets, the electronics retailer said.
RadioShack sales associates will use a branded in-store Web interface to educate users about mobile games, and purchases are billed through monthly carrier invoices. The retailer said it hopes to sell games through other carriers soon. Read on …
