Gameloft Develops for Xbox Live Arcade

May 21st, 2007 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Development Platforms | 1 Comment »

Gameloft
Following earlier coverage by the blog on Cheeky’s move to start
redeveloping mobile titles for Xbox Live Arcade, 1up now reports that
Gameloft will go there as well.

Gameloft is not totally new when it comes to developing games for consoles as they released a small number of games for Nintendo’s DS (incl. 2 of the launch games) based on their mobile IP’s, but developing for the Xbos Live Arcade (XBLA) does raise the question where Gameloft stands compared to UBIsoft.

The first game that Gameloft will release on XBLA is Prince of Persia. They will recreate the game following as much as possible of the original (much like the first prince of Persia game on mobile). They do want to toss in a few new puzzles and enemies though.

Don’t forget they have already published some of their franchises like midnight pool, soviet strike and block breaker on PC for a while now. They can be downloaded for 5e from their website.
Seems to be a trend for mobile publishers to cut their teeth on PC and XBLA casual games(Telcogames, Morpheme)… maybe because mobile doesn’t bring enough money and ratio conversion on XBLA are very appealing ? 🙂
