IO’10 Alex Galvagni

December 24th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Analysis & Editorial | No Comments »

Glu Glu, the third biggest publisher of mobile games has seen a true management drain this year. Still 2009 has been good for the publisher as well since they managed to get cashflow positive. Alex Galvagni (CTO and SVP of Global Product Development) reflects on 2009 with us and looks ahead at 2010.

The Market in 2009

For Glu Mobile, 2009 was a very exciting time. We decided to invest heavily in the smartphone market and accelerate our efforts to build original creative games. We are very excited with the innovative original titles we deployed and believe our decision has proved to be effective.

We deployed titles like Glyder 2, Beat It!, and SKOB 2 and we received more awards and accolades than ever before including PocketGamer’s 10/10 Platinum Award for Glyder 2, mtvU’s including SKOB 2 in its Top Ten Best iPhone Games for the Fall and Beat It! won IGN’s Best Music Game for 2009.  We also continued to invest in the ability to quickly take our games across multiple platforms.

The Market in 2010

Glu Mobile expects that in 2010 new smartphone platforms will emerge and continue to provide a great opportunity for us. We also expect that some of the lines between online and mobile will continue to blur and that companies that can build great content across these different platforms will be rewarded.

Glu in 2010

For 2010, Glu Mobile’s plan is to continue to focus on our strength: build great innovative original products that can scale easily across a wide-variety of platforms.
