Motorola Ditches UIQ and Linux

October 30th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Smartphones & Tablets | No Comments »

Motorola
In order to streamline it's handset offering, Motorola will no longer offer UIQ and Linux based devices to the market. Instead, the full focus will be on Windows Mobile, Android and it's own P2K.

With this announcement, the news that UIQ is dead, is pretty much confirmed from Moto's side as well. Recently, Motorola sold all it's shares in Symbian to competitor Nokia.

In regards to Android, the first devices are expected to hit the market by Q4 of 2009. This shows that the company will need to put a lot of time in mastering the OS before it's ready to launch into the market.
