Motion Sensing for Mobile Games

Several companies have released a message to the industry about the possibility for inserting motion sensing into mobile phones. Capcom interactive has done an excellent job last year to
enter the mobile games market. GameZone reports that the company has secured
the 9th place in Q4 of 2006 while they where still stuck at the 62nd spot at
Q1.

The NPD Group launched a bulletin about the effect of licensed mobile
games within the market. They kicked off with some generic data like
20% of our target consumer base played games on their mobile and 3% of
them downloaded a game in the first half of the year while 4% bought
one by the end of 2006.

even more. Having acquired Living Mobile a bit over a year ago, they
established a stable basis of development and distribution in Europe.

Namco Brings KDDI Games to North-America

Namco
Namco has announced a deal to distribute Japanese mobile games on the portal
of operator KDDI to North America. With this deal, Namco opens the doors to the
US for all Japanese developers that have created mobile games for KDDI, one of
Japan’s biggest Telco’s.

Glu Raised $ 84 Million on IPO

MoCoNews reports mobile games publisher Glu has raised $ 84 million for their IPO, $ 4 million above expectations. Glu offered 7.3 million shares which sold at $ 11.50 each while the forecast was between $ 10 and $ 12. Glu’s market capitalization has reached about $ 327 million. Glu’s common stock will trade on Nasdaq today under the GLUU symbol.
