SEGA and Glu Extend partnership

In contradiction to rumors that where spreading trough the industry like fire, Glu doesn’t have to worry about an expired license just yet. SEGA and Glu announced the extension of their partnership. The extension will allow Glu to keep developing and distributing SEGA Mobile games based on the current licenses and Football Manager Quiz, Total War and Wonderboy.

The Twistbox Acquisition of InfoSpace Games U.S. Financial Details

We reported before (and where the first) about the Twistbox acquisition of InfoSpace Games U.S. (also known as Atlas Studio). In our Q&A with Michael Steuer, VP of games for Twistbox, we didn’t get access to the financial information surrounding the deal. In the latest SEC filing from InfoSpace which we got tipped on, all information is available though. InfoSpace has bought the Atlas Studio for $ 6.3 million in July 2004. Now, barely three years later, InfoSpace sold the studio for $ 1.5 million. Of course, this is nothing in contrast to the Elkware studio that was bought at $ 26.4 million and closed in 2006.

Hudson to Bring TurboGrafx Games to Mobile

Hudson has started to port their back catalogue of TurboGrafx games to the mobile gaming platform. The games will not be direct ports as Hudson does aim to improve both graphics and gameplay for optimized use on mobile.

Canadian Operator Telus Kills Adult Content

After numerous complaints by it’s customers, Canadian operator Telus has pulled the plug out of their adult content platform. The platform was launched a few months ago with heavy protection measures to avoid minors from viewing the content. It was not even until the media started blowing up the story, that consumers started complaining about the services.

Small Planet to Host Real Arcade Mobile Games

Microsoft Enters Mobile Content Delivery

Microsoft has announced to enter the mobile content delivery arena with their PlayReady technology. Microsoft announced their PlayReady technology as a solution that is able to work with multiple business models ranging from pay per play to subscription and one off models. The system is designed for mobile games, video, ringtones, music and images.
