Glu’d to Brazil

Trough MobileIndusty.biz, the news reaches us that Glu is taking the Latin American market a level up by opening a dedicated office in Sao Paulo in Brazil. The office will be headed by ex-THQ Wireless Bill Woods.
"We feel strongly that our success as a global publisher depends on establishing a local presence to truly understand the needs of the region," said Greg Ballard, CEO of Glu Mobile.
"We have seen great enthusiasm and reception for our games in Latin America, and as one of the first publishers to have success in the region we believe that opening regional headquarters will allow us to expand our leadership position in this very important market," he added.

Gamasutra has held an interview with Demetri Detsaridis, creative director at Massively Mobile about the company’s vision in mobile gaming and how they plan to beat the competition and lift mobile games to a new level. For this, they have declared the developer manifesto for a good game. Though most of it is pretty obvious, there are probably a lot of developers that can benefit from the ideas in this manifesto.
Player X added Tassos Kazinos as COO

Player X announced Tassos Kazinos to join the management of the company. Tassos has over 10 years of experience in the technology and media industry and a special expertise in the independent film production business. Something that really fit’s the strategy of PlayerX to not only do games, but also mobile TV.
“I’m delighted to have Tasso on board,” commented Player X CEO Tony Pearce, “he adds further quality to a team that already includes heavyweights such as Nick Alexander, Ynon Kreiz and Adam Valkin. By bringing in somebody from outside the industry who has experience in film and broadband only underlines how far mobile media has come.”
TIM Italy starts to Brew

Qualcomm and TIM Italy, Italy’s largest operator, have announced to start deploying handsets which feature’s Qualcomm’s Brew solution. With this move, TIM hopes to improve it’s leadership in the market and innovate it’s 3G and HSDPA networks even more. The first games announced to go live on TIM’s Brew portal are coming from Gameloft. Also TIM announced it will use uiOne, which is the idle screen advertising system on Brew.

As Arjan mentioned in a previous post, I offered myself, as the cheap person I am, to do some guest editorials. Hopefully I can bring some insight into the business side of the "Mobile games scene" (yes I am from those old C64 days that allows me to say words like "scene" and "awesome").
New Guest Writer

The first guest writer is Pascal Besteboer, known from OrangePixel. We feel Pascal is an ideal match to this blog as he has been reading it for a long time already and also as his company focuses to development of the market.

Some time ago we got tipped about a new method to get your games in the market. Mogmo is a google like searchengine, specialised in mobile content. After playing around a few seconds, we noticed ringtones and wallpapers are no challenge, so on to the real candy. Lets test the games search!
