Hindy mobile games to overtake music

The Financial Express (this does give pop-ups) has put up an article about the Hindi mobile games industry. It explains how mobile games are massively catching up to the ringtone market with a current ratio of 5 games on every 7 ringtones. The main reason for this is the licensing on Bollywood titles, which attract enough attention on the local markets to make it worth while.

Symbian’s 100.000.000 milestone

Symbian announced to have a massive 100 million Symbian supporting devices in the market of which 13 million where sold in the last quarter. Symbian started in 2000 with the Ericsson A830. Currently Ericsson is joined by nine other vendors and those are backed by 250 operators world wide.

Glu to light up Poker competition in Europe

After successful deployment in the US, Glu will now bring its World Series of Poker license to Europe where the poker decks are currently dominated by poker games from HandsOn’s World Poker Tour license and various Pokerroom.com titles. Reason for the move to Europe is the increase in popularity of the card game. Glu will kick off with the Texas Hold’em and Player Advisor versions.
Dadango to distribute Ozura into U.S. and Canada

Ozura announced it will use Dadango to reach the North American and Canadian operators.
"We are pleased to offer our games to Dadango’s partners across the U.S. and Canada," said H.E. Mah, Ozura’s Vice President of Marketing. "The U.S. and Canadian wireless markets have played a very dominant role in the industry and we are delighted to be working with a well-known publisher such as Dadango, with its strong distribution channels in both countries."
"We are pleased to partner with Ozura to provide our carriers and partners with their well-liked casual games which certainly will appeal to the US and Canadian market," said Dadango’s Vice President Irwin Chen.
