Phones Hurt The Brits

March 6th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Other news | 1 Comment »

UnitedkingdomIt seems that the UK has a huge problem with Brits walking up against lampposts. Though the publications mostly speak about “walk and text” injuries, we can safely say Mobile Gaming might also be involved here.

According to Daily Star, 6 million Brits managed to get in accidents with lamp posts in 2007. For these Brits, the phone screen got so important, they forget to look at anything around them. To draw a good picture of the situation, injuries range from broken noses to skull fractures!

So what’s up next? Well, the Brits are considering “texting lanes” which are free of any objects you can bump against, as well as cushioning lamp posts and other objects.

That sounds funny, but is shocking indeed. Is our time that busy that it’s impossible to find a quiet corner where you can stand and type your SMS (if it’s so urgent you can’t wait until you’re e.g. in tram)?!
      Scary.
