Our friends over at Pocket Gamer.biz (when do they get out of beta) have unveiled what they calculated the best mobile game and mobile games publisher of 2008, based on the rankings on various review sites.

With 7.95 out of ten, Gameloft has beaten the competition with the overall 2008 portfolio. Pocketgamer concluded this from 145 reviews of their 2008 releases. EA Mobile ranked second at 7.68 and Real Arcade picked the third spot.

The best mobile game was won by Fishlabs with their Rally Master Pro. It ranked 9.43 over 10 reviews.

“Mobile games have received a bad press for their quality, but our research shows there were plenty of excellent titles available in 2008,” says Stuart Dredge, editor of PocketGamer.biz. “Gameloft’s high average score shows the company’s commitment to quality, but it’s just as encouraging to see the high average ratings of other publishers too. Anyone who’s cynical about mobile games should give some of the top titles in our chart a try
