EA Mobile has announced to release a multiplayer version of the widely
popular Tetris mobile game. The multiplayer mobile gaming experience
will happen on EA’s own platform and allow several community functions.

EA Mobile’s multiplayer gaming platform will not only allow players to compete realtime from all over the world, but also chatting and player matching will happen on it. It is not the first mobile game from EA to go multiplayer. Bejeweled, EA Pool and Jamdat Bowling 2 already received the treatment.

“The great advantage of the mobile platform is its ability to connect people. These games are designed to make use of the mobile phone’s inherent internet connectivity and ensure that a heated competition is never more than a few buttons away,” said Michael Marchetti, senior vice president and general manager of EA Mobile.”We are committed to building the largest mobile gaming community, and we believe that multiplayer versions of the most popular mobile games of all time will move us closer to that goal.”

Multiplayer gaming on a title like Tetris is simple. Players can choose to play against friends or let the system select a worthy opponent. Dueling pairs can block one another’s efforts to clear lines and play on one of two multiplayer modes
