Apple to Ban Flurry and Distimo?

April 14th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Apple It seems Apple is kicking more third party service providers out the App Store with the release of iPhone OS 4.0. In the recent TOS change, developers are no longer allowed to device data.

"Device Data may not be provided or disclosed to a third party without Apple’s prior written consent. Accordingly, the use of third party software in Your Application to collect and send Device Data to a third party for processing or analysis is expressly prohibited."

But what exactly is device data? The definition seems blurry to analytics firms as well as advertisers who also gather specific usage data from apps. It could also signal the arrival of an analytics service from Apple itself.
