Codemasters to Partner with Glu

It has been silent around Glu for some time since they started with their IPO, but today some good news was announced. Glu has inked down a deal to distribute and develop Codemasters Mobile games on their network. This deal comes at a good time now the IPO is entering its final stages and rumors about the expiration of their SEGA licenses go around the industry, making Codemasters one of their most important assets for the future.

3GSM: IbxGames Launched

This year at 3GSM there is a fresh mobile gaming company launching into this highly competitive market space. The company is called IbxGames and seems to fucuss on connected games mostly. The first games they will launch are Armored Forces, OGame Mobile and Wrooam.

Mobile Joystick

The boys over at QB have found an interesting news bit about a new design for mobile phone joysticks. In the design, a user can basically pull out the joystick for a quick play. I wonder though how it will hold when putting a lot of stress while pushing the joystick for the ‘fire’ functionality. Also, I am still wondering when the boys of Commodore will launch their joystick for mobile, which they shown me at the E3 last year.
I-Play to launch Jewel Quest 2

iWin has released yet another casual mobile game over their successful relationship with I-Play. This time Jewel Quest receives an update. With the release of Jewel Quest 2, iWin hopes to improve over the 40 million downloads that Jewel Quest 1 received (over all platforms we estimate, looking at I-Plays stats at CGA last week). The release of Jewel Quest 2 was simultaneous over mobile, web and other platforms.

Glu Launches Project Gotham Racing Mobile

Last Friday, Glu has globally launched the much anticipated Project Gotham Racing Mobile (also known as PGR). The PGR license started out on the Xbox and was sent out by Glu in time to get some nice quotes from review websites. Among them are IGN “One of the most anticipated games of 2007” and Pocket Gamer “The best mobile racer”.

CGA: Exciting Data on the Euro & N. American Mobile Market

Mark Donovan, SVP and Senior Analyst at M:Metrics held his speech about the mobile market and consumer behavior. Also he revealed that male consumers are still the biggest group unlike most other reports say. The speech was mostly a rainfall of data, so my apologies if it’s a bit unstructured below.
