VeriSign, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks and Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, today announced that VeriSign’s mobile games publishing unit, Ojom, has signed a long term multi-product licensing agreement to distribute the latest mobile games to mobile carriers and wireless users.

The agreement will enable mobile carriers to offer a wide range of popular games to users developed from well-known movie and television properties including Universal Pictures’ October 21st, 2005 release George A. Study: Ring tones, mobile games to skyrocket

Revenue from ring tones more than doubled in 2004 and will grow substantially during the next four years, market researcher Jupiter Media said on Tuesday.

Last year, ring tone revenue in the U.S. market was $217 million, up from $91 million in the previous year, the company said. And in 2009, revenue from ring tones will reach $724 million, the company projected.

The mobile-game market also experienced growth and is expected to stay healthy, according to the market researcher. Revenue for 2004 grew to $72 million, up 300 percent compared with the previous year. The research company expects game revenue to reach $430 million in 2009. More …

Pre-Paid N-Gage price frop and game library price cuts on the horizon.

Nokia announces today that the N-Gage QD and N-Gage game library will go under some pretty serious price cuts this month as part of a new strategy to bring more gamers into the marketplace. The unfortunate bit about this is that not all retailers will be participating in this cut, at the moment it seems like Gamestop / Musicland related companies will be the only ones offering the pre-paid N-Gage QD at $99 while channel partners will still vary in their pricing of the device depending on contract decisions.
