Chillingo Goes Social – UPDATED

July 16th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | 1 Comment »

Chillingo Chillingo has announced a new social network for mobile gamers called Crystal. With this news, Chillingo follows closely on ng:moco which has released their Plus+ network last month.

Crystal is based on iPhone 3.0 and be providing an Xbox Live like experience for consumers. The network will allow players to challenge each other and connect to social networks like Facbook and Twitter.

The SDK will be free for iPhone developers, but it is not clear if a publishing deal with Chillingo is required. We will provide more info on this as soon as we have it. Meanwhile, you can sign up at the dedicated Crystal SDK site.

UPDATE

Crystal is free for all developers. You don't need to have your game published by Chillingo. Those that do publish their game via Chillingo will get access to various extra tools for cross promotion of games as well as viral marketing tools. These technologies should help to extend the shelflife of the games.

    1. I’ve reg’d my interest in this directly as it sounds interesting and I’ve been looking at ScoreLoop’s SDK again recently also – this may be just what I need.
