Playlogic Heading for Bankruptcy

July 27th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A | No Comments »

Playlogic is the second biggest Dutch game publisher and developer since Streamline Studios went under earlier this year. The latest news around the developer and publisher is that it is heading toward bankruptcy.

In 2009, the studio lost €16 Million while it released just two games; Fairytale Fights and Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance. Though that last came was suffering from bad critics all over the world, Fairytale Fights just doesn’t sell well.

Last Tuesday, the Playlogic website went offline and it is to be expected that coming Monday, the company will be declared bankrupt. If that is the case, 110 employees will be looking for new jobs.

Playlogic developed games for both wired and wireless consoles. Xyanide was a big hit on Symbian and J2me and was created by Overloaded (which went under in 2008).
