Lidl Starts Selling Smartphones

Following in Aldi’s Shoes, German discounter Lidl is also starting to sell off cheap Android-based smartphones. While Aldi launched the Wolfgang brand to promote their line-up of mobile devices, Lidle isn’t taking that route. Instead, the company is offering the smartphones under the name of their manufacturer. Huawei.

Motorola Sales Plunge, Again

In the past quarter, Motorola Mobility has sold 8.9 million mobile devices. The sales took another dive. In the same quarter of 2011, Motorola Mobility sold 9.2 million devices. Though sales are down again, Motorola did record an increase in smartphone sales.

HTC Sales Drop 35%

Dell Ends Smartphone Sales in the US

Dell has stopped selling their Venue and Venue Pro smartphones in the United States. Both phones run on Windows Phone OS. No new smartphones have been announced.

DrawSomething Improves Stylus Sales

More OMGPOP news today as it seems retail outlets are overwhelmed by the amounts of consumers interested in a stylus for their tablets. Dutch retail outlet Belcompany (part of Vodafone) confirmed Stylus sales went up five times in the past few weeks.

3.000.000 iPads Sold

Apple has announced that the company sold off over three million iPad’s in the first three days it is available. Supplies of the new iPad seem good as well as there are still a lot of outlets where the iPad isn’t out of stock.

Munster: Apple to Sell 1mil iPads on Day One

This Friday, consumers will receive their iPads by mail (if not delayed) or line-up for hours at the many Apple and other electronics stores that will start selling The New iPad. Gene Munster expects Apple to sell over a million of them on the first day of sales.

Sony Sells 1.2 Million PS Vita’s

Sony seems to be doing fine now the company launched the PS Vita in North / South America and Europe. Sony managed to sell 1.2 million PS Vita consoles since it launched in all territories.

Apps Increasingly Important to Barnes & Noble

You put a full colour e-reader on the market and just as you think everybody will start reading in full colour, consumers turn out to use it for what it is, a tablet. Still it is nothing for Barnes & Noble to worry about as apps turn out to be great business to them.
