CyanogenMod Reaches 2 Million Installs

May 29th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | No Comments »

CyanogenMod might be one of the most popular custom ROM’s for Android devices. At the start of this year, a million Android phones had been running on CyanogenMod. By now, that amount has doubled.

CyanogenMod is likely to be used by a lot of hardcore Android users as 50% of the installs are so-called Kangs. Distributions built from source code instead of the builds the team has on their website.

Versions 0.7 and 0.9 are the most popular. 0.7 is based on Android 2.3 while 0.9 runs on Android 4.0. The most popular phones are the HTC Desire and the Samsung Galaxy S II.
